Jack Skellington receives all kinds of praise from
the Citizens of Halloween town after the annual Halloween
celebration. The Mayor heaps praise on Jack and they
go through the routine of "thank you," "no,
thank you" The witches and vampires follow
him like groupies and the creature from the black
Lagoon says, "Ooo Jack, you make wounds ooze
and flesh crawl."
But all this praise does little for Jack's ego. He
is the Pumpkin King, but wants more. So where else
is there for him to go? He is bored with the same
old scares and screams. This song is his lament, showing
his rather ambivalent state.

The fame and praise come year after year
